A Sneak Peak Into My Crazy Life as I Try to Get Through Nursing School,
and the Technology, Books, Movies, Music & Lyrics I Enjoy
This weekend was interesting. I’m really not even sure where to start. At the beginning, I guess…
came into town this weekend. We met up at Sue’s. I also got to meet ! Yeah! He’s adorable, and very funny. We’ll definitely have to do it again
While I am standing in Sue’s waiting on everyone to show up (yes, I was early, for once), this guy starts leaning around his friends to check me out. He sees me catch him looking and says “Sorry I was checking you out, but you are just too beautiful!” I do a little spin and say “If you are going to look, you may as well get the full view!” Later that night, I hear the friend he was standing with say “I like slutty women.” I turn to her and say “Did I just hear you say that you like slutty women?” She tried to play it off, but finally admitted she was in town for the weekend and looking for some action. So, then we made a game out of trying to pick out the easy gals for her.
Sue’s had a weird vibe, so we headed to Round Up fairly quickly. I met this really good dancer and had a blast. Oh! And to top it off, I was wearing heels. Yikes! It was my first time to dance in heels. I was surprised at how well it worked out – I am definitely not good at walking in them, so I was nervous about dancing in them! The guy enjoyed dancing with me so much, he introduced me to a friend of his that is a really good dancer – I love having new dance partners!
Saturday I had to take my car in to the shop. When I called to schedule the service appointment, they told me it would cost $200. When I got there, it turns out I didn’t need the oil service, I needed the Inspection 2, which happens every 60k miles. It wound up costing me four hundred forty fucking dollars! Insane, I tell ya. Venessa comes to pick me up from the dealership so we can spend some time together. La Madeline’s has some really awesome strawberry jam that tastes soooo good on croissants. I am drooling now, just thinking about it. Then we went to Barnes and Noble, had some Chai Tea and read the beginning of this book I’ve been trying to get her to read. She says she’s hooked!
Saturday night we go out to the bar in Arlington. I ran into a lot of people I expected to, and a few I didn’t. As I was coming off the dance floor, I look over at my friends and see a sight that scared the beejeezus out of me. This girl who looked just like the girl who stalked me in college was talking to my friends. After she walks off, I go over to LC and say “Do you know her?” She says “Just for 5 minutes.” I explain that she looks familiar, and it is not a good thing. She says “Well, what was her name?” “Kristie.” “Yep, that’s her name.” Great. I don’t think she recognized me, but it was still a very strange feeling, and threw me off balance to see her.
And, SA was out. She was my first love. We were together for 2 years, and even after we broke up, remained friends. Until about 2 years ago…something happened and I was told she didn’t want to talk to me any more. Now, I thought it was because she got messed up into drugs and I told people that I was sad she got so bad into that and she just wasn’t the same person I had fallen in love with. Anyhow, her group of friends is standing right next to my group of friends, near the dance floor. So as I am walking off the dance floor, a mutual friend points me out to her. She reaches out and touches me arm and says “Hey.” I say hello, and we both go back to talking to our friends. Eventually, we talk a little and dance a few times. Turns out her reason for not wanting to talk to me was much different than what I thought – my ex VG (then current) gf told her that I said some really bad things about SA that were not true. Just one more friendship in my life that VG tried to ruin. We spent some time talking, reminiscing about old times, and catching each other up on what was going on with our families.
The strangest part about the whole thing was that while I was talking to Venessa that morning, I told her that I was sad that SA and I didn’t talk anymore. It was sad to me that someone who was such a part of my life for so long wasn’t around anymore.
To top it all off – Cherry was there too. Between her, Kim and SA, those are the 3 people I have known the longest. So, all in all, I had a really good time. I danced pretty much every song and got to see some old friends. Still, the whole evening…unsettled me. I’m still not really sure what to make of it.

Did you ever hear of Lancaster Beach Club? It was on the corner of…you guessed it, Lancaster and Beach Street (near 30)!
It was sold, and they turned it into a mix county/dance bar.
We probably do know some of the same people. I used to spend way too much time out in the bars when I was younger. Did you go out to Sue’s, Village, JRs or any of those places? I don’t go out to straight bars much. I moved to DFW in 97.
When were you here?

I was in DFW area from around 96-98 so right around that time period. I LIVED at Village Station, I was there every wednesday and thursday and sometimes saturday night. I used to frequent Sue Ellens to (of course haha) I also used to go to this other bar with my girlfriend at the time, it’s behind sues and the village, I can’t remember the name of it for the life of me, i want to say something about grapes or vine or grapevine or something like that. Crazy times back then, too much alkiehall maybe that’s why I can’t remember.

We must know some of the same people! I was at Village every night, practically. It was the one place I could get in and then get lost in the crowd since I was underage. I had a bad habit of *cough losing cough* my shirt in there, so I would have been the tall skinny white girl in only a bra…I liked to watched the shows in Sue’s on Thursday nights. Gay men are so much fun - Village was a fun place to be when I was in party mode. They are remodeling it right now, so it is closed down.
Are you talking about Throckmorton Mining Club? It is literally right behind JRs. The Rose Room was inside of The Village. Moby Dicks is down the street. Or Buddies, and the Brick? Grapevine is a city, but I don’t know of a bar that sounds like that.

it’s a dive bar, but it can be fun.. it’s back off of Maple, just north of Oaklawn.. across from the scary looking ‘mansion’ thingie.
sun-tues they used to have $2 you call it.. w000!

Ahhh! *light bulb* I know that place now, but I have never been in there. After walking into the 651 in Arlington…that was scary enough for me
I just don’t look tough enough to wander into dive bars alone.

I’d post something, but I’m still recovering from the naked pics you posted a couple of posts down.

omg omg omg omg omg I WAS ALWAYS SHIRTLESS AT VILLAGE!! I was hard to miss, shirtless girl with a shaved head (except for the front part, which was always teased into ridiculous hairdos by the throng of gay men I hung out with) bleached blonde, always wearing something wild and vintage usually. Then when the hair grew back in it was always some wild color (ahh youth and retardation) I was always drunk (though I was still underage to haha) or on K or something, and I was a serial make out queen, a total slut. I bet you anything in the world we’ve made out, at the very least we”ve shared the same make out partner lol. This was me back around that time (jeez can you believe, almost 10 years ago?)
It was none of those bars you mentioned, it was behind the main bars, but not directly like throckmorton, damn I wish I could remember that place, it’s gonna drive me crazy now.

One of my friends commented on it above - It is called The Grapevine
I bet our gay boy friends tried to hook us up
I tended to go more for the leather/skimpy look myself. I hung out a lot around the patio and towards the side of the dance floor near that walk way (away from the main entrance)…the guys I hung out with liked to stand in the cruise line!
Oh my. You do look familiar! There weren’t normally too many other shirtless women running around
Tooooo funny.

Recovering? Does it take a 12 step program?
Comment by jaxia — September 14, 2004 @ 6:44 am
More like one stumble followed by eleven steps.
