  1. I go back and forth on Nora Roberts. I really like her fiction, but her dialogue just tends to get old after a while. Everything is always clever and just sounds very… fictional. :P Witty banter is exchanged like rapid gunfire and she drives points home with a sledgehammer.

But I loved Three Sisters trilogy. :) Read it, if you haven’t. The witch stuff is really stupid (fucking nursery-rhyme spellcasting) but the setting of the book is so well done it really makes me want to move to that island. She just kind of chose a dominant impression and worked it beautifully. The setting is as important to the story line as any character and is better developed.

  2. “I can’t believe that!” said Alice.

“Can’t you?” the queen said in a pitying tone. “Try again, draw a long breath, and shut your eyes.”

Alice laughed. “There’s no use trying,” she said. “One can’t believe impossible things.”

“I dare say you haven’t had much practice,” said the queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

  4. I haven’t read those - I read the ones about the brothers and some about the water. I don’t seek out her books, but if there is one laying around, I’ll read it :)

  5. Don’t strain too hard - it might hurt your brain!

  6. Poor Eck. I don’t know how you stand it! Tea just isn’t the same. Hell, being Cajun, we were given ‘coffee milk’ from the time we were tiny kids!

  7. I like folgers espresso blend for my morning caffine buzz. 2 lumps of sugar and a bit of canned milk.

Chumas, off to work - now.

  8. Do you actually buy cubed sugar?

  9. that’s the only way to go.

I guess you didn’t notice it in my pantry.

I did buy a 5 lb bag of granulated stuff- which did not fit into my sugar container. I’m trying to use the overflow.

now I feel like hearing a little Nina Simone… “Sugar in my Bowl”…

  10. Nope, I didn’t notice. I was too busy looking in my corner :p

Cubed sugar is only good for being building blocks and building things. I mean, how many sugar cubes does it take to equal a cup of sugar?

You wanna hear what? Did that song come out before I was born? :p

  12. Yah, much easier to handle when you’re still scraping protien crap out of the corners of your eyes.

  13. Don’t take this the wrong way, Chum, but you just never struck me as a sugar cube kinda guy ;)

  14. Narf?

I’ve got… *counts* 5 types of sugar in my cupboards. Plain ol granulated sugar in a container, sugar cubes, light brown sugar, dark brown nearly-molasses sugar, and confectioners sugar.
Yah, sugar cubes are good for when you’re just to swagged out to get things right in the morning. Plus, there’s no accidentally putting a coffee wet spoon back into the sugar dish.

  15. OoO! That just made me think of something - I HATE it when people put the wet coffee spoon back in the sugar - it always looks like ants have been in it!
