A lot of times LJ is just slow because one of the hamsters running their server flops over dead. It's really slow for me right now too... also caused me to double post twice today because after the first post I'd get "unable to connect to server; try again." I'd do it again and suddenly I've got 2 posts up. Mine is a paid account. So don't bother. :) It does NOT speed the loading. So you have to wait until the paid members are all being taken care of before your request is accepted. Kinda like those line jumping passes they have at theme parks!
