Now The Ghosts Are Flesh And Blood!

Oh!
I almost forgot!

Yesterday, I went to Einstien Bros Bagels for lunch. I hadn’t been there awhile, so I didn’t know what I wanted. I saw this sandwich “Cobbie on Challah.” The lady behind the counter said it was like a croissant. I love croissants, so I said I’d try it. It was a far cry from a croissant, but it wasn’t bad. But, the whole experience was kinda like taking a drink of iced tea just to find out it was watered down Coke.

Anyway, I was sitting there, eating my food and working on this new poem…I hear this woman’s voice say my name. I look up, and I see a face that looks vaguely familiar, but I cannot quite place it. I guess I have that ‘deer in headlights’ look, because she starts laughing at me, and says “It’s Jennifer! Don’t you remember me? We worked together at XXXX”

My mouth hits the floor. Wow - that girl has changed! She is a knockout! She sits down and we talk for a bit. Turns out, she came out and had always had a huge crush on me (damn, I coulda had another point toward my 7th toaster!).

She has to go, so we swap numbers. She wants to have dinner this weekend so I can meet her gf, who used to date a friend of mine. *hums “It’s a small world”*

Lemme tell ya, I’ll be glad when I am not attending this training class in Las Colinas any more. Too many old memories around here, and now the ghosts are flesh and blood!

  2. and SOMETIMES ghosts turn back into real people…

i was talking to a comic buddy just yesterday about how “incestuous” the gay life can be-in terms of it’s so small, that you can’t help but to be “six degrees of separation” from any other person.

  4. I worked at Einstein’s for about 8 months my sophomore/junior years in high school ha ha. I freakin LOVED Challa rolls… and i Loved hearing people try to pronounce it even more. Oh and yeah they are definitely not very croissant-like ha.

  5. Yeah, what’s sad is when you go out of town and hook up with an ex of an ex and find out months later. Not that *I* have ever done that. *cough*

  6. She was kinda bitchy. I should kick her just for that.

  7. Especially when they play in my world now ;)

  8. I think I would have liked it better without the gorgonzolla mayo stuff on it.

    How do you say it?

    Comment by jaxia — September 24, 2004 @ 4:49 am

  9. That person is right… it is a Jewish bread and it’s like “Holla” but you hack the “h” if you want to be a perfectionist about it :)

  10. Yeah… I work in a bakery. Challah bread is not like a croissant.

    I *love* your icon :)

  12. Thanks. I’m utterly Wicked-obsessed.

*is presently making plans that involve sleeping in an airport overnight just to see the damn play*

  13. *laughs* I gotta say I love that you used the toaster line. Thats my shit. Anyway, rock on for old friends and Einstein Bagels. Personally I don’t like their sandwiches but seriously their fountain soda is the best in the world. Oh and their bagels are okie too :)

  14. I like Dr Pepper’s from Dairy Queen. IMO, DQ has the *best* fountain drinks. Especially when I find one that uses the yummy crushed ice!

Einstein didn’t have Dr Pepper - that is a tragedy!

  15. Oooh, a poet as well?? Nice!

Man, tell me about it being a small world. I’ve had too many of those experiences (that you’re describing) lately.

Hmmm, it sounds suspicious that she gave you her number and invited you to dinner with her girlfriend….and she *once* had a crush on you…

  16. Yep, I write. I’ve posted one or two in here somewhere, but normally I post them to my other journal…I figure most of the people who friend me because I am a crazy lesbian don’t want to read my sappy poetry. And my RL friends who are also on LJ…well, they hear it all in person/over the phone so they don’t wanna have to hear it again either :)
Do you think she’s trying to snow me? We were never really good friends. I don’t even really know her all that well. I guess I’ll see what happens when/if she calls.

    Comment by jaxia — September 24, 2004 @ 9:45 am

  17. Sappy poetry’s cool. All poetry’s cool, in my opinion.

“Snow” you? you mean, sleep with you? Well, I’m not sure what her intentions are but….it does seem a bit *weird* that you guys were never really good friends but you learn that she had a huge crush on you and now she’s inviting you out to dinner.

    Eh - maybe they’re swingers. :p

  18. Awwwww…cool! Yeah, it is a pretty small world. Have you ever played that game “Six Degrees of Seperation?” We did in my AP Human Geography class. I am officially 2 degrees from George W. Bush, 2 degrees from George Bush, Sr., 3 degrees from Osama bin Laden, 2 from Julia Roberts, and 3 from John Kerry. Wooooo. And lots more. hehe :)

    Comment by lovelesspoet — September 26, 2004 @ 3:38 am

  19. Oh, don’t get me wrong, some of it is dark and sad and pretty lame…

I told her no for this weekend. I’m not willing to take the risk atm.

Swingers? Aren’t those straight couples who swap partners?

    Comment by jaxia — September 26, 2004 @ 3:42 pm

  20. WHAT? Girl, how are you so close to all of them? That’s kinda scary!

    Comment by jaxia — September 26, 2004 @ 3:43 pm

  21. Why, yes!! Those ARE swingers. Hahaha.

But you did get what I was implying, right…

    Comment by xanderschild — September 27, 2004 @ 3:23 am

  22. That she wants me for a 3some?

    Comment by jaxia — September 27, 2004 @ 3:50 am

  23. *LOL*

    All I’m saying is that it’s a possibility…

You never know with people today. I found myself to be in situations like these so I’m trying to shed some light.

    Comment by xanderschild — September 27, 2004 @ 4:05 am

  24. Through my AP Human Geography teacher, I technically know Bush, bin Laden; I know Julia Roberts because my grandmother tutored her sister; I know John Kerry through a friend who met and corresponds with him; And I know George Bush, Sr., through my friend.

    Comment by lovelesspoet — September 27, 2004 @ 10:29 am

  25. Ooohhh. I thought you meant you knew them!

    Comment by jaxia — September 27, 2004 @ 11:00 am

  26. Hehehehe! Silly! Well, I HAVE met the Deputy Executive Director of the C.I.A., Marty Peterson. He came to my AP Human class. It was fun. :D

    Comment by lovelesspoet — September 27, 2004 @ 11:37 am

  27. Heh, the only time my friends talk about 6 degrees is when we are talking about who we have slept with, and who they have slept with and on down the line…

    Comment by jaxia — September 30, 2004 @ 2:51 am

  28. :P Nice.
