My, What Large Eyes You Have!

by @ 4:42 pm on November 16, 2004. Filed under Health and Wellness | Television

Argh! Now I’m irritated. Judging Amy has been preempted. Again. Grrr. Who wants to watch a two-hour episode of Amazing Race? Amy is better eye candy, by far.
At least I got to see Joan of Arcadia on Friday. Did anyone else watch it? If you are not watching this show – you should be!

I had an appointment with my eye doctor yesterday. I had my pupils dilated. For those of you who don’t know me IRL, my pupils are always fairly dilated anyway. So, add the drops and I have no color left in my eyes. The eye doctor said to me “Do you know that comic, Bloom County? The cat with the one big eye? You have two of them!” I got up to look in the mirror and he told me if I had a magnifying glass, I could see all the way to the back of my own eye. How trippy! He determined that I am suffering from a mild case of ocular fatigue, which is probably contributing to my migraines. And, for the second year in a row, my eyesight has improved. My stigmatism has almost disappeared entirely. Since I didn’t know my pupils were going to be dilated, I didn’t plan to have anyone drive me home. It was a very interesting trip, to say the least.

I’ve been invited to a Mexican-themed dinner party tomorrow night. Instead of a bottle of wine, should I bring a bottle of tequila? Suddenly, I’m craving the candies from Monterrey House and De la Rosa Peanut Mazapan.

  1. I don’t understand how astigmatism can disappear. Astigmatism is when your cornea isn’t shaped right.

  2. Search me. The eye doctor didn’t seem to think it was strange. Granted, I’ve never gone to the same eye doctor two years in a row, but I’ve always made sure they have a copy of my previous results.

Or, maybe my past eye drs have been screwing up, and that’s why I’ve had headaches all these years!

  4. For those that haven’t seen last weeks Joan ep. SPOILER WARNING

I watched it… it was a verrrry very sad episode :( I really liked Judith. I’m curious to see how Joan is going to deal with God this week.

But yes, it is definitely one of the better shows out there for the watching.

*chuckles at the eye thing* The uber-dilation actully happens regularly with one of my cats, so I’m just imagining what you would look like in the same state.

  5. I must admit, I got a little teary-eyed. I didn’t really care for Judith at first, but she grew on me. I’ve missed the Grace/Joan friendship though. But I really like Grace’s char, so maybe I am just biased.

I loved how Adam couldn’t stay. That was so perfect. And Joan’s reaction to Judith - the panic. That seems much more realistic that what other shows do.

I should have taken a picture. It was pretty crazy. I looked like I was on something.

  7. Citrus Sangria Punch
    Makes 8 servings:

    1/2 cup superfine white sugar
    1 pint rum
2 cups sliced citrus (oranges, limes and lemons)
    1 bottle dry red wine
    1 pint orange juice
    ice

Dissolve sugar in rum. Chill well.
When ready to serve, place fruit slices in large glass pitcher and pour in rum mixture. Top with red wine and orange juice; mix well, crushing some of the fruit to distribute the flavors.

Grats on your eyes getting better. Yay. :) Good luck, babe.

  13. Should I give you a hard time about noticing that? ;)

    Comment by jaxia — November 17, 2004 @ 1:29 pm

  14. Yes, although with the aforementioned whacked out-ed-ness.

The ‘D’ in Claritin-D does that to me.

    Yarha, Weehee! Whacked…Out!

  16. Grace is very cool, yes.

And yeah, Adam’s reaction was just perfect - especially when he explains _why_.

I would have to say though that “Grief” from B:tVS is probably the best loss episode I’ve ever seen, but this one does a great job too.

  17. Oh yes - the why…Adam has some really awesome lines.

    I didn’t see that one. I know, I know…Don’t shoot me.

  18. Adam gets a lot of the best lines :) Can’t wait for tomorrow’s ep, to see the repurcussions.

*chuckles* Eh, I can’t say anything - I’m going to have to wait for the DVD’s to see all of Angel season 5… If you do get the chance though, that episode I mentioned is reeeeally good. Probably one of the best ones, after “Hush”.
