A Sneak Peak Into My Crazy Life as I Try to Get Through Nursing School,
and the Technology, Books, Movies, Music & Lyrics I Enjoy
Well, I’m back in Dallas. I’ll write more about my weekend later, but I wanted to see – Has anyone read Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey? There were definitely some moments as I was reading it that had me…ah, squirming in my seat. I haven’t read the other books in the series yet. I’m trying to hold off until after Christmas because life’s going to be pretty busy between now and then and I want to be able to give the books the attention they deserve

I woke up in the middle of the night with my throat hurting so bad I couldn’t even swallow. I used some throat spray stuff that tasted awful but took the edge off the pain. I kept waking up every two hours though and had to use some more. If Friday hadn’t been a holiday (gotta work the day before and after a holiday in order to get paid), I would have stayed in bed. I hate being sick. I just wanna be pampered.

Ganked from Amazon: ”The land of Terre d’Ange is a place of unsurpassing beauty and grace. It is said that angels found the land and saw it was good…and the ensuing race that rose from the seed of angels and men live by one simple rule: Love as thou wilt. Phèdre nó Delaunay is a young woman who was born with a scarlet mote in her left eye. Sold into indentured servitude as a child, her bond is purchased by Anafiel Delaunay, a nobleman with very a special mission…and the first one to recognize who and what she is: one pricked by Kushiel’s Dart, chosen to forever experience pain and pleasure as one.
Phèdre is trained equally in the courtly arts and the talents of the bedchamber, but, above all, the ability to observe, remember, and analyze. Almost as talented a spy as she is courtesan, Phèdre stumbles upon a plot that threatens the very foundations of her homeland. Treachery sets her on her path; love and honor goad her further. And in the doing, it will take her to the edge of despair…and beyond. Hateful friend, loving enemy, beloved assassin; they can all wear the same glittering mask in this world, and Phèdre will get but one chance to save all that she holds dear.
Set in a world of cunning poets, deadly courtiers, heroic traitors, and a truly Machiavellian villainess, this is a novel of grandeur, luxuriance, sacrifice, betrayal, and deeply laid conspiracies. Not since Dune has there been an epic on the scale of Kushiel’s Dart-a massive tale about the violent death of an old age, and the birth of a new.”

My mom used to make me use that Chloroseptic spray when it first came out. It only worked for about five minutes. And it tasted like band-aids.
I’ve found that Creme Savers feel awesome when you have a sore throat. Better than anything else I’ve ever used. Plus they’re yummy!

You have until February to get better. I’ll be visiting Dallas then and will require you to be in good health at that time.

Hot cocoa is my friend right now. It feels really good on my throat for some reason. My glands are all swollen. Owww.
I look forward to it - that picture was awesome - and SK thought so too

This stuff was Celphacore or something like that. At the time, I didn’t really care. The 5 minutes it worked was long enough for me to fall back to sleep. I bought some Chloroseptic (I just noticed the ’septic’ part of the name) this morning. I’m trying to avoid using it, but I bought the cherry instead of the other flavors. Hopefully it won’t kill me. I also got some strawberry Halls. They are actually pretty good. And, some of the Luden’s cherry things which are like candy

I’ll try not to let you down :p
When in Feb? I usually make a trip to Houston in early Feb to visit my sister for her birthday. Hopefully we won’t miss each other.
Are you coming to Dallas for work or pleasure?

The Luden’s never did anything for me. They are tasty though. Kids used to bring them to school just so they could eat candy all day and get away with it.

My mother always says to gargle salt water for a sore throat. Works pretty well.
I read Kushiel’s Dart a while back. Not bad. Haven’t gotten around to reading the rest of the series yet.

I don’t have an exact date yet, I’ll know in about two weeks. It depends on when everyone else is available, and so forth, but I’ll attempt to make it later in the month.
As for work or pleasure, it’s about six hours of work and then the rest of the day and weekend to goof off and look up old friends. Plano is my original stomping ground, age 0-19.
