A Sneak Peak Into My Crazy Life as I Try to Get Through Nursing School,
and the Technology, Books, Movies, Music & Lyrics I Enjoy
SK is coming home tonight! Wahoo! This day cannot end soon enough.
I have to go home after work and … clean house. I’ve never been called a neat freak, and after bach’in it for over a week, let’s just say I have a few things to tidy up!
I looked in my closet last night, and I had one outfit left for today: Mothballs and dust bunnies. I considered taping the mothballs in strategic places, but realized this wasn’t the brightest of ideas since I need to celebrate SK’s homecoming and she might not appreciate au de mothballs.
Did you watch American Idol last night? I tivo’d it with the intention of just watching the end, but actually found myself enjoying the show. Bo’s okay, but I am glad Carrie won.
On Friday morning, I took SK to the airport. She won’t be back until Thursday night. Today is only Sunday, and I miss her terribly. Because of circumstances, we haven’t even had much of a chance to talk over the phone. I find myself lying in our bed with my face buried in her pillow. The echo of my footsteps along the hallway mocks my loneliness. I’m so pitiful.
Yesterday, MW volunteered to entertain me. I met her new gf, AW, for the first time. AW told me that earlier in the day MW said, “I’m so excited for my girlfriend to finally meet my wife!” I laughed and said, “I doubt few people ever say that!”
We went to the lake and played around in WW’s boat. I tried wake boarding for the first time. My muscles ache today, but I had fun. It was a gorgeous day for cruising around and sunbathing on the boat.
I was invited to a ballgame today, but I have to take defensive driving. Have you tried the online defensive driving yet? The convenience can’t be beat, but this required time is irritating. The course includes a few videos, but is mostly composed of things to read. Hello! Some people read faster than others. They make you take these lame little mini quizzes along the way to make sure you’re actually paying attention. Isn’t that enough? Oh well, at least I have built in time to work on my laundry.
After an afternoon rehearsal for a concert, Anne the harpist and Sam the trombonist went to a discotheque to relax and get something to eat. Sam’s car wouldn’t lock, but Sam was a good friend of the club’s owner. They locked their instruments in the club owner’s office, and went into the disco for some food (and fun). By the end of the afternoon, after having had way too much to drink, they went back for the concert, completely forgetting to bring their instruments.
Anne told the conductor, “I left my harp in Sam’s friend’s disco.”
Whew! Have I been busy!
I finally finished my first attempt at php. I had a lot of fun figuring it out. If you are interested, check out my random quote generator here.
And, in better news:

Wahooga! I was sweating it a bit, but I pulled out the A! This is very good news J I’m registered for 10 hours during the first summer session right now. I need to drop one of the classes, but I haven’t decided on which one yet. I’m actually surprised that I am this excited about going to school. I love to learn, but hate to memorize crap.
In other news, I’m looking for a way to go to school full-time. After talking to SK, we realized that if I can find a part-time job at my current hourly rate, we could work it out. I’m going to talk to my current job and see if they offer some type of program that will allow this. I’m scouring the net and pestering my friends, but so far, part-time jobs are all entry level. *fingers crossed*
Maple glazed cake donuts are a sin.
I wish they’d play music in public restrooms. I don’t want to hear Mrs. Suede Wal-Mart Sandals* in the stall next to me strain to take care of business.
There is only one benefit to not having any sound-masking music: I know when to take advantage of the air freshener.
* Yes, I realize I essentially admitted I look at the feet in the stall next to me. I want to make sure not to follow her in again!
Wow! What a weekend!
I coaxed SK into going with me to OK this weekend so I could play live poker. I had a blast! It happened to be the weekend of the art fair so we spent some time there before heading to the casino. I was impressed by the diversity for such a small-town art fair. Poker details are on my poker blog.
Sunday, her dad wanted to take his boat out on the lake. We drove over and it was such a gorgeous day for it! There weren’t many people out, and so it seemed as if we had the entire lake to ourselves. I remember looking over at SK where I could see her and the peaceful lake, framed by trees and the bluest sky. With the sun on my face and the wind whipping through my hair, I had to smile at the beauty in my life.
