Disco Inferno

After trying to kill myself on the way to Austin, I thought I’d give alcohol poisoning a chance on Thursday night. I went bar hopping with some people from work, and got to see quite a bit of Austin night life. Although, after you see the list of bars and drinks, you’ll be surprised I remember any of it:

Fago - 2 Cosmopolitans (too expensive)
The Library - 8 Malibu and Dr Peppers, 1 Buttery Nipple (Cheap drinks on Thursday nights)
Coyote Ugly - 2 Malibu and Dr Peppers, 2 Gingerbread Men (They tried to get me to dance on the bar)
Dan’s Depot - 4 Malibu and Dr Peppers (Horrible live music)
Lucky Lounge - 6 Malibu and Dr Peppers (strange crowd)

Before you scoff, keep in mind I weigh 120 pounds and haven’t had more than one drink in a night since…wow, how long ago has it been? I still managed to walk back to my hotel, and I never got sick. I was exhausted on Friday, and I remembered why I don’t like to go out partying any more. But, some greasy cheese-covered tator tots for lunch fixed me right up!

I still think Austin is a bunch of tree-huggin hippes :p

  2. HA! Yes, Austin…the only good thing about going to Texas - I was born there…in Texas…grew up in Houston - SO DON’T ARGUE WITH ME ;-) I love the night life Austin has to offer, those kooky college junkies…and, yes, tree-hugging hippies - but REDNECK tree-hugging hippies…ok, fine it has yet to be proven they exist (by scientific standards).

Anyway, noticed your comment on my blog about you going through the tedious task of testing CMS’ as well. I’d have to say that overall right now I am pretty excited about Xoops. However, for more than enough flexibility I would have to go with Mambo. The easiest to customize by far though is Website Baker.

  3. Mouse - Get with the program, girl! Hope you had fun!

Chris - I was born in Baytown, and lived in the Houston area until I was 18. I’ve lived in Dallas/Fort Worth for 7 years. I’ve also lived in Corpus Christi and Nacogdoches. DFW is FAR better than Austin - UNLESS you are a tree huggin hippie!

As for the CMS, I guess it really depends on the needs of your business. How much customization would you need?
