I had the same mixed feelings. Did he know my name because I am a good student or does he remember my name because I am a pain in his neck? Maybe you can make a unique hand gesture and every time you hear “axe the patient”/ After a few weeks you can make the gesture and see if the professor reflexively says “axe the patient”. You never know, it might work  I tried throwing a Lesbian Film Festival once in college, but the video store would only let me rent 3 movies from “behind the counter” at a time ;) I totally remember the first time I realized a professor knew my name.
