Anyone Thirsty?

by @ 9:23 pm on October 3, 2006. Filed under Health and Wellness

In an effort to take better care of myself, I’ve been trying to drink more water. How in the world does anyone drink 64oz of water on a normal day (one where they are not sweating like crazy)? All this water makes me feel … odd. And how am I supposed to EAT if I have so much water in my tummy?

I just don’t drink enough fluids, period, I guess.

  1. new email above.

drink till you gotta pee, and then when you feel your lips getting a little dry, drink some more. Easiest way is to fill 2 1-Liter bottles with clean filtered water(get a brita filter, it makes it easier) and drink drink drink.
You may not be drinking a lot of water because your water doesn’t taste so good. So, you avoid it subconsciously. Brita filters help loads, they make the water taste, smell and even has a better mouth feel. :)

  2. I think its what you get used to. I work an 8 hour day at work and polish off a 2 litre bottle of water plus more while I’m there. Now its quite the norm now but it did take me a while to build up to. I think it actually helps if your in an air conditioned environment as that dries you out. The only problem is having to pee….. alot :)

If your trying to build up how much you drink I would suggest having a non clear bottle (as large as poss really) handy with you during the day and just get into the habit of drinking from it. The people who seem to have trouble are the ones who line up 8 cups or whatever and say they have to finish them by the end of the day.

  3. We usually keep bottled water around, so I don’t mind the taste of water. It doesn’t taste BAD, it just doesn’t seem to satisfy my mouth like Dr Pepper :)

I do think I’m going to have to build up to it. I feel like I’m old or pregnant because I have to get up to pee so many times during the night!

  4. I came to the same conclusion that I was not drinking enough water during the day. It seems like a large amount if you look at it all at once, but if you space it out across a full day it is not that bad. I had 2 plastic gatorade bottles which came out to 64 oz and I would fill them each evening so they would be cold for the next day. I could carry one in my bag for work, and the other is what I would use to fill my glass at dinner. I found myself easily drinking more than the 64 oz.

If you think of it in the terms of pop cans (12 oz) it would be 1 pop can at each meal, 1 can for each commute, and 1 in the evening after dinner.

As it was called out before, you will find yourself looking around for places to go pee a LOT more.
