While studying for my microbiology test, I realized that our microscopes remind me of Johnny 5 from Short Circuit. Ah, the good old days!

No More Crikey

SK and I are both feeling a little under the weather, so we had a rather low key weekend. We did get to spend a lot of time with family over the weekend, so that was nice. And, rainy days plus feeling poorly equals great movie weather. I *finally* saw Gone with the Wind all the way through. One more movie classic that I can check off my list. I think it is sad when people are so blinded by the love they think they want, that they miss the love they have right in front of them. On the school front, I’m done with both of my government classes for the week, and I have to get started on my statistics assignment. We are supposed to have a test in Anatomy on Monday, but the professor pushed the test because we are already behind in lecture.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, was killed by a stingray barb to the chest on Monday. At first, I thought it was a hoax, because his death has been rumored before. However, once it started showing up in the mainstream media, I finally accepted it as the truth. The world lost a great advocate for animal rights.

I was excited to hear about Rosie O’Donnell’s new shindig on The View. I think she has a lot to offer in this format. It will be interesting to see how the dynamics work out between her and the other ladies on the show.

I couldn’t help taking this meme:

Westley / The Dread Pirate Roberts

Which Princess Bride Character are You?
this quiz was made by mysti

Westley has some great lines:

“I do not envy you the headache you will have when you awake. Until then, rest well and dream of large women.”

“We are men of action. Lies do not become us.”

“There is a shortage of perfect breasts in the world. It would be a pity to damage yours.”

and, of course:
“Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.”

Snakes on a Plane, Brain?

“Pinky, are you pondering what I’m pondering?”

“I think so, Brain, but how did the snakes get boarding passes?”

SoaP, man, Soap

CJ, who knew it would get this bigDid you?

“Jackson, in his first interview since the Snakes craze went national, has tracked activity on such sites as Snakes on a Blog — the homemade trailers, the suggested soundtrack tunes, the gently mocking T-shirts. Most intriguing [to him], however, have been the fake movie posters.”

Additional scenes were shot in March with more gore, nudity and profanity so the PG-13 rating would become an R, the better to satisfy fan expectations. Best of all, Jackson gets to say his trademark obscenity in the new line: “I’m tired of these (bleeper-bleeping) snakes on this (bleeper-bleeping) plane.”

Snakes on a plane, man. Snakes on a plane.

Are There Rocks Ahead?

When we went to Ruidoso, we decided to take a few movies with us to watch while curled up next to the fire.  Since this was a getaway, we didn’t want to take too much stuff.  Having to choose which movies to take on our trip got me to thinking about my favorite movies of all time.

The 5 Best Movies (according to Jaxia):

  1. Shawshank Redemption
  2. The Princess Bride
  3. The Sound of Music
  4. Courage Under Fire
  5. American History X

So, what are your five favorite movies?

Axe The Patient

by @ 11:19 am on January 26, 2006. Filed under Health and Wellness | Lesbian | Life | Movies | School

Yesterday I discovered that my anatomy teacher knows my name. This is either a really good thing, or a really bad thing. At least she manages to keep my attention in class. To illustrate the properties of chemical bonds, she said they were like marriages. The type of bond dictated who got what in the divorce. Hydrogen bonds are not only polyamorous, but tend to keep a mistress on the side. Whatever works, right?

Last night after class, we headed down to Fort Worth to check out The Ultimate Lesbian Short Film Festival. I’d never been to one of these types of things, but I had a good time. I even managed to win a door prize! Granted, it was a movie that I’d never heard of and has subtitles, but since I’m on a losing streak lately, I’m not complaining. We had dinner at Uno’s beforehand and decided to go back for dessert after the show. We met some new people and had some laughs. Good times!

I bought a pretty new purple, err, excuse me - lilac, stethoscope for my health skills class. We are supposed to learn how to take vital signs tonight. I’m going to practice on SK ;)

Ask me tomorrow about how many times the instructor told me to “axe the patient.” I have to do something to keep myself entertained.

Game Night and UFC

Let’s see, where was I?

Oh, right. Friday. LAST Friday.

I took Toby to his vet appointment since he wouldn’t put any weight on his leg. The vet took X-rays, but thank goodness nothing appeared to be broken. After I got home and gave him some medicine, I sat down in my chair with the intentions of resting my eyes - for just a minute! You know what they say about intentions … I fell asleep with Toby in my lap. By the time I woke up, it was too late to go out dancing, so we decided to go see Four Brothers instead. It didn’t get the greatest reviews, but I thought it was decent. I wanted more for the ending, but that’s just me and my belief in fairy-tales.

Saturday, we had people over for game night. It was a blast! I’m still getting flack for something I said while we were playing Catchphrase: The clue was Sandy Duncan. Since I didn’t have any idea who she was, I decided to try to break her name down.

“When you go to the beach, it’s that gritty stuff that gets in your parts.”

Seemed like a good clue to me …

Sunday, we watched a lot of Ultimate Fighting. Saturday night during the party, I used Tivo to record UFC - Boiling Point. Man, am I glad I did! It was worth paying the PPV price for it. We also watched the reruns of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, and were able to watch the final fight between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar again. If you are a fight fan, and missed that fight, you’d best just take yourself out behind the barn and have a nice long pity party. Or, you could bribe me, and I could send you a copy ;)

I hate to disappoint Chumas, but I didn’t get one single picture the entire weekend. I haven’t been very good lately about remembering to get out the camera.

Am I in trouble?
*evil grin*

Movie Quotes - E

Erin Brockovich
Erin Brockovich: Are you going to be something else that I have to survive? Because I don’t think I can handle it.

Ever After
Rodmilla De Ghent: Darling, nothing is final ’til you’re dead, and even then, I’m sure God negotiates.

Danielle De Barbarac: If you suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners corrupted from infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded, sire, but that you first make thieves and then punish them.
